Making a Difference
At WashBar we’re here to make a difference. Not just to pets, but to the community and planet as well.
We take our social responsibility very, very seriously and it’s a core part of everyday business for the WashBar team.
But it’s more than that - it’s at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to being a force for good.
Over the years sustainable has become a trendy term, for us it’s a way of life. We’re committed to reducing our impact on the environment by generating as little waste as we can, recycling everything possible and reducing the energy we use.
Here’s just a few of the ways that we reduce our already toy-dog sized carbon footprint:
To offset the carbon we generate driving cars we plant thousands of trees on the property where WashBar started.
Living rurally the WashBar team are very connected to our environment - we don’t have many of the amenities that people living in cities take for granted. At home we collect our own water, take care of our own waste and grow much of our own food. We generate our own power at home from the sun - we've been off-grid for 8 years.
Nearly naked packaging is good packaging. Especially on our soap bars. The paper bag can be recycled or composted when you’re done with it. Our cardboard display boxes compost or recycle as well. When we can’t go naked we make sure our packing is as environmentally responsible as it can be. Our shampoo and spritzer bottles are made in NZ and are recycle number 1. All our ingredients are biodegradable.
Our office kitchen scraps go to compost, our packing bench is upcycled pallet racking, and all our pallets and warehouse shelving are untreated plantation pine timber. We reuse and recycle wherever we can.
